Still life is where line and observation meet. It's a way of slowing down and really looking at ordinary objects – how they sit together, how light moves across them, and how a single line can suggest weight, texture or movement.
In these pieces, line does most of the talking. A vase, a bowl of fruit, a favourite mug or a cluster of everyday objects are reduced to their essential shapes and rhythms. Edges are allowed to breathe, details are suggested rather than fully described, and the empty spaces are as important as the marks themselves.
Sometimes the work stays very minimal, built from a few confident strokes. Other times, layers of line and tone are used to build up atmosphere and depth. The aim is not to create a perfect copy of what is in front of her, but to capture the feeling of the arrangement – the balance, the quietness, the small moments of tension or harmony between objects.
If you are interested in a still life piece based on your own objects or spaces, commissions are available and can be tailored to your ideas and the room they are intended for.
